QWOCMAP is committed to the health and wellbeing of our community, filmmakers, and audiences. Our COVID safety guidelines are designed with high standards for the safety of our Sick & Disabled community and therefore will benefit everyone.
We need everyone’s help to create a safe and welcoming space for joyful celebration.
By attending the Queer Women of Color Film Festival, you commit to:
1. Show proof of up-to-date vaccination and boosters.
2. Show proof of negative COVID test results taken within 2 days / 48 hours.
3. Wear a N95 or KN95 mask indoors at all times.
4. Monitor your health before, during, and after the Film Festival.
5. Be Fragrance Free and smoke free.
QWOCMAP works with the venue to:
- Pump fresh air from the Presidio National Park into the building between screenings and overnight.
Bring a sweater; fresh air makes the theater cold. - Run mobile HEPA air purifiers in the lower lobby and All Genders bathrooms.
These air purifiers are mechanical and do NOT produce ozone. - Double filter air through 2 sets of MERV-13 filters in the HVAC system.
- Serve receptions on the Plaza outdoors.
All food and drink must be consumed OUTSIDE the building. - Offer low-cost rapid PCR and antigen mobile tests on-site before each screening.
- Use Fragrance Free, non-toxic cleaning products, hand soap, and other supplies, and to avoid scented products and those that have “fragrance” on the ingredient label.
- Ensure that tobacco smokers and vape users are at least 100 ft from the building on all sides.
Vaccination + Boosters
All Film Festival attendees must show proof of up-to-date vaccination.
Proof of vaccination will be cross-checked against photo ID.
Valid forms of proof of vaccination include:
- Your digital COVID vaccine record; OR
- An original, copy, or photo of your CDC vaccination card; OR
- Documentation from a healthcare provider
During the Film Festival, up-to-date COVID vaccination includes:
- A 2-dose (Moderna or Pfizer) or a single dose (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine received by May 27, 2022
- 1 or 2 booster doses
Negative COVID Test Results
All Film Festival attendees must show proof of negative COVID test results taken within 2 days / 48 hours of the screening.
A PCR test will grant entry for the DAY OF and TWO DAYS AFTER the test.
PCR tests can be taken through any provider (eg, community clinic, health insurance, Renegade.bio, on-site at the venue, etc.).
Or, you can take an on-site rapid antigen mobile test at the venue EACH DAY.
For your convenience, QWOCMAP has partnered with a queer lab and a mobile testing company to offer low-cost testing options before and during the Film Festival.
ON-SITE at the Film Festival - $85 PCR / $25 antigen tests
FREE on-site rapid antigen mobile tests are available if needed.
Rapid PCR and antigen mobile tests administered by medical professionals are available on-site at the venue before each screening. Be sure to come before doors open to ensure that there is enough time for you to be tested.

Public Health Guidelines
Our QWOCFF is a public event.
We are following public health guidelines for events.
1) Proof includes name matches their test result, and documentation of the COVID-19 test result must show:
2) The test result is negative AND
3) The test was taken within 2 days (PCR) or 1 day (if antigen), AND
4) The test is antigen (Ag) or PCR COVID-19 or SARS-CoV02, AND
5) The test result is from a laboratory or healthcare or test provider of patient platform for the healthcare provider.
Therefore, a COVID-19 self-test, sometimes referred to as a "home test," is not acceptable.
We are following public health guidelines for public events, and we have developed additional protections including masking, fresh air ventilation, and air filters, in order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our vulnerable Sick & Disabled community members, particularly immunocompromised people.
Wear a Mask
All Film Festival attendees must wear a N95 or KN95 mask indoors at all times.
QWOCMAP will have N95 masks at the theater so that you can switch your mask to a N95.
N95 masks should be worn over the nose and mouth, and fit snugly against the sides of the face.
If you feel sick…
BEFORE the Film Festival
Please stay home, even if your symptoms are mild. We want to avoid any possibility of illness for our vulnerable community members.
After the Film Festival, you can watch the online Encore Screening of the entire Film Festival.
DURING the Film Festival
Please immediately approach the Usher, Front Desk, or Safety & Care crew, even if your symptoms are mild. We will speak with you to assess your symptoms and who you came into close contact with during the Film Festival.
Then, please return home and take a PCR test as soon as possible. From June 3-17, LGBTQ-lab Renegade.bio will offer PCR tests for $35 only for Film Festival attendees and QWOCMAP community.
If the PCR test result is positive, please immediately contact QWOCMAP at festival@qwocmap.org or 415-752-0868. We will initiate contact tracing.
AFTER the Film Festival

QWOCMAP will notify all audience members within 24 hours of the case being reported to us, if someone tests positive for COVID during or within 7 days after the Film Festival.
All personal information will be held strictly confidential. QWOCMAP may be required to notify the San Francisco Department of Public Health about any positive COVID cases among Film Festival audience members.
Fragrance Free & Smoke Free
We need everyone’s help to be Fragrance Free and smoke free.
COVID affects the upper respiratory system. As part of our protections, we want to reduce the amount of chemicals and particulates in the air as much as possible, including fragrance and smoking. It’s why we use HEPA air purifiers that are mechanical and do NOT produce ozone.
Please check your scent use and use these tips to stay Fragrance Free BEFORE and DURING the Film Festival.
For people with environmental injuries and chemical sensitivity, we offer Fragrance Free seating where there is lower risk of chemical exposure.
Check Your Scent Use
Do you wear, bathe with, use on your body or hair, use air freshener, or wash your clothes with products that have “fragrance”, “perfume”, “parfum”, or “scent” listed on the ingredient list on the label, including essential oils or “natural” scents?
NO, I do not use and am not exposed to products with “fragrance” on the ingredient label. Therefore, I do not need to change my practices in preparation for the Film Festival.
YES, I use or am exposed to products with “fragrance” on the ingredient label. Therefore, I will need to transition 3-5 days before the Film Festival to co-create a safe and accessible environment for people who are sensitive to chemicals and fragrance.
Fragrance Free Body
USE soap, lotion, shampoo, lip balm, hair gel, hair oil, pomades, make up/cosmetics, and other body products marked "fragrance free." Check the label for ingredients and avoid “fragrance.” Products like unprocessed coconut oil, shea butter, and olive oil are good alternatives for many hair and skin needs.
REFRAIN from wearing colognes, perfumes, essential oils, or products containing these (even if they are natural, they are still scented). Also refrain from wearing insect repellants. If you are around smoke from sage, copal, sweet grass, or other sacred herbs used for smudging, please air out or change your clothing.
Fragrance Free Clothes
USE laundry detergent without fragrance, and/or soak & wash your clothes with water & baking soda. Wash the clothes that you plan to wear at least 48 hours before you arrive, with fragrance free detergent or baking soda, and set clothes to air out.
REFRAIN from using fabric softeners; the scent is especially difficult to remove and may need several washings to remove it. If you really need that extra softness, use vinegar in the final rinse of washing clothes.
IF YOU USE dry cleaners, air fresheners, or incense, those will get into your clothes as well.
IF YOU SMOKE, please wear fresh clothes that you haven’t worn while smoking. Please smoke at least 200 feet away from the Presidio Theatre entrance and portico and COVID testing station. After you smoke, stand outside for 15 minutes to air out your clothes, and then wash your hands and mouth when you enter the theater to reduce the impact on chemically injured people.
SAFETY ADVISORY: when entering the Presidio there is a shift in law, from those of the City of San Francisco and the State of California, to those of the U.S. government.
The venue is located inside the National Park and is governed by federal law. Therefore, it prohibits the possession AND consumption of marijuana/cannabis, including vape pens. Federal penalties are harsh. Please consume safely.
BE MINDFUL that fragrances and scents transfer very easily. If you are near someone who is wearing perfume, or clothes washed with scented detergent, or who is a smoker, it will get on your clothes too. Please be mindful to avoid exposure en route to and at the Film Festival.
